Golden Flies in Human Care

We have closed a partnership with The Golden Fly (The Black Soldier Fly), Hermetia illucens. It is our friend and strategic ally. Together, we have an army of millions of Individuals, eager to reach our noble common mission.

Our Golden Fly originates from the Americas but is now found worldwide in warm climates. It thrives in decomposing organic matter, exhibiting a rapid lifecycle that transforms eggs into adults in about 30 to 45 days. The larvae are particularly rich in calcium, protein, and fat, making them valuable for animal feed. Their ability to efficiently convert organic waste into high-quality protein has garnered attention in sustainable practices. Human applications include their use in aquaculture and agriculture, and as a potential food source. Additionally, they play a role in waste management by decomposing organic materials, contributing to a circular economy.

We treat them with respect, love, and proper care throughout their lifecycle, from egg to adult Golden Fly. We feed them a specially formulated diet utilizing problematic organic waste. Hygiene and health are imperative in our care. In return, the Golden Flies allow us to harvest the metamorphosed waste and transform it into a specially modified living fertilizer, A&O Plant Nutrition, as well as utilizing their bodies for the production of living or dried biomass, protein powder, natural oil, and chitin.
